On April 14, Elsevier released the list of Most Cited Chinese Researchers of 2021. Professor Sheng Xiaozhen from School of Urban Railway Transportation and Professor Shen Qin from School of Management Studies were both selected, indicating that the two professors are highly influential among researchers in their respective fields and have made significant contributions to the development of their disciplines.
The 2021 Elsevier Most Cited Chinese Researchers list includes a total of 4,701 scholars from 523 universities, enterprises and research institutions, covering 84 first-level disciplines in 10 Ministry of Education subject areas. From 2015 to 2022, Elsevier and Shanghai Ranking Consultancy have jointly published the Most Cited Chinese Researchers annually for eight times, which has received a lot of attention from the media and scholars domestic and abroad.
Professor Sheng Xiaozhen is the leader of mechanical engineering discipline of SUES, and has been selected as one of the Most Cited Chinese Researchers for the third consecutive time from 2019 to 2021. His research area is vibration and acoustics, focusing on the theory and application of vibration and noise reduction in rail transportation. He has presided over the project Generation mechanism, pathways and key influencing parameters of interior noise in standard multiple-unit trains, a major project supported by China Railway Corporation, and Research on the generation, transmission, and containment of noise in high-speed railway, a key project supported by National Natural Science Foundation and High-speed Railway Joint Funds. The research results have been published in top academic journals at home and abroad and have had a significant impact internationally.
Professor Shen Qin is a supervisor of Masters in public management and is currently the director of the College of Advanced Vocational-Technical Education at SUES, with research interests in social security, education economics and management. He was selected for the first time as one of the Most Cited Chinese Researchers in 2021. In recent years, he has presided over projects supported by National Social Science Foundation, MOE Humanities and Social Science Foundation, and the Shanghai Philosophy and Social Science Foundation, etc. Besides that, Professor Shen has published more than 50 papers in domestic and international academic journals such as Population & Economics and Price: Theory & Practice. He teaches econometrics, actuarial calculations of social security funds and economics of education to undergraduate and postgraduate students, and has been awarded the Grand Prize and the First Prize of Shanghai Teaching Achievement.
The fact that the two SUES professors have been selected as Most Cited Chinese Researchers in 2021 is not only a recognition of their personal academic achievements, but also marks a milestone in SUES's construction of disciplines.
