On the morning of July 8, Shanghai University of Engineering Science 2023 Commencement was held at the gymnasium on Songjiang Campus, and all SUES leaders, members of SUES degree evaluation committee, heads from all schools, alumni representatives, faculty representatives, graduating class counselors, 2023 graduates, and 2022 graduates specially invited representatives attended the Commencement.
Li Jiang, Secretary of the CPC SUES Committee, Yu Tao, President of SUES, and all the members of the Degree Assessment Committee presented diplomas to the graduates, and sent their sincere entrustment and earnest expectations to them.
Li Jiang, Secretary of the CPC SUES Committee, presented the flag to the representatives of the graduates employed at the grassroots level and put forward ardent expectations for them, hoping that they would go to the places where the motherland needs them most. Secretary Li Jiang also accepted a special gift from Tian Xinmeng, representative of the 2023 grassroots employment graduates, for her alma mater - Seedlings of SUES. This pot of green seedlings planted by her own hands, half of the soil brought back by her from Chongqing, and half from the campus of her alma mater, the SUES, symbolizes that graduates of SUES will take root in the motherland with the instructions of their alma mater, and walk with the motherland and the times!
President Yu Tao expressed warm congratulations to the graduates who successfully completed their studies, expressed his heartfelt thanks to the faculty and parents who accompanied the students' growth and hard work along the way, and sent high respect to the alumni and partners who have long cared about and supported the development of SUES! He introduced all the outstanding models of the Class of 2023 in scientific research, social practice, volunteer service, etc., and put forward three hopes to all graduates. The first hope is to be a down-to-earth practitioner, take root in the motherland, and work diligently. The second hope is to be a thinker full of ideals, with the ideal ambition of benefiting the society, and work hard. The third hope is to be an individual who stresses quality in all-round development, reform and innovation in excellence, and lifelong learning.
Shi Jianyong, Deputy Secretary of the CPC SUES Committee, announced the list of graduates who won the honorary title of Shanghai Excellent Graduates and awarded them honorary certificates.
Meng Yanping, Deputy Secretary of the CPC SUES Committee, announced the list of graduates who have obtained doctoral and master's degrees, and awarded them souvenirs.

Shao Qi, an outstanding alumni representative, alumnus of the 2008 School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, winner of the National May Day Labor Medal, and Shanghai model worker, shared his story and encouraged the students to hold fast their dreams, cherish time like gold, and work hard.
Cheng Yaotian, a 2023 Shanghai outstanding graduate and graduate of School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering, shared his growth story of studying and forging ahead at SUES. Tian Xinmeng, a participant of the University Student Volunteer Service West Program and an outstanding graduate of the class of 2023, and a bachelor's degree graduate from School of Textiles and Fashion, interpreted the mission and responsibility of the students at SUES based on her personal experience of taking root in the west.
All the participating graduates solemnly swore to their alma mater that they would always remember the motto spirit of Diligence, Veritas, Innovation and Dedication in the future journey of life, and strive to practice the value orientation of diligence and sincerity, learning and application, so as to contribute youth strength to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
