On July 15-16, the 9th Materials Heat Treatment Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition Finals were held at Jiangsu University of Science and Technology. The Finals were organized by the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society and sponsored by Teaching Guidance Committee for Mechanical, Materials, and Industrial Engineering Professions in Higher Education Institutions of Ministry of Education.
A total of 1,118 teams from Harbin Institute of Technology, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Dalian University of Technology, Northeastern University and other major universities across the country, with a total of 4,693 students participated in the competition.
After the selection of the final regional competition, a total of 227 teams entered the finals, including 128 undergraduate teams and 99 graduate teams. The entrants' fields included the creation of novel materials, heat treatment, surface modification process technologies, and application findings. The works were submitted in a variety of forms. High-level discipline competition is a high-quality platform for colleges and universities to cultivate excellent engineering talents and innovative talents, reserve backup forces for the industry, and provide intellectual support for China's strategy of manufacturing power.
Three teams from School of Materials Science and Engineering of SUES broke through the final regional round and competed in the grand final. In the end, the team composed of Wang Jiewen, Sun Xiaolu, and Zhang Yuan won the first prize in the graduate student group; the team composed of Wu Yingjie, Li Kuizen, Mao Ji, and Li Wenjie and the team composed of Zhou Yuanyuan, Li Jintao, and Dang Ruibo won the second prize in the graduate student group and the second prize in the undergraduate group, respectively.
Since 2019, the Competition has been continuously ranked in the “National Ranking of Competitions of Colleges and Universities Students” by the China Association of Higher Education, receiving widespread attention from colleges, universities, and the industry.
