In reliance on the economic development of Shanghai and the Yangtze River Delta region and on the background of the advanced manufacturing industry, this Major focuses on cross-subject clustering of materials science, mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, microelectronics and information & management, emphasizes combination of modern industrial design methods with traditional process design technology, combination of CAD/CAM/CAE methods and traditional mold technology, stresses plastic molding process analysis capability building by means of modern design and manufacturing methods. On the basis of the theoretical knowledge related to shape building, the Major emphasizes mold design and manufacturing, plastic formation process optimization, molding process control and molding defects prediction and other practice ability training.

Employment Orientation: graduates may work in the industries related to aerospace, automotive, vessel, high-speed rail, nuclear power, metallurgy, machinery manufacturing, electrical and electronics and engage in product molding process R & D, product design, process design, tooling design, tooling equipment Manufacturing, product monitoring, project management and operational management and other related work.
