With academic backgrounds in both mechanical engineering and materials science & engineering, Dr. Covey has professional knowledge and skills as well as outstanding accomplishments in the fields of mechanical design, materials science, product design and manufacturing process, defect analysis including the fields of biomedical, aerospace, and computer engineering, especially in the fields of material selection, finite element analysis, material structure, manufacturing process, fatigue and defect analysis and machinery manufacturing. As a professor of teaching and research, Dr. Covey is quite active in research projects. He has solved lots of practical production problems for many enterprises in addition to his great accomplishment and thorough research on curriculum planning and the cultivation of students’ practical ability. He has advanced teaching concepts and methods, which makes a good combination of the rigorousness of mathematical and practicability of engineering. In terms of how to guide students to implement the “problem-based learning” and “active collaborative learning”, He also has rich teaching experience based on problem, case, projects, teaching ability and knowledge. He not only introduces related engineering knowledge to the students, but also develops the students' ability to solve practical problems in the field of engineering.
