Research Fields

My research is focused on the synthesis, structure elucidation, spectroscopy, and structure-property correlations of new substances with novel chemical, physical, or electrical properties. These substances range from discrete molecular compounds to solid state inorganic materials, but all of them by developing new synthetic methods that give us access to crystalline compounds. We rely heavily on single crystal X-ray diffraction because the structures of our materials are so complex that they cannot be determined by any other method.
