
On July 27, Ge Zixiang, President of Lunghwa University of Science and Technology (LHU), Taiwan Province, and his delegation visited SUES. President Yu Tao received the visiting guests at Conference Room 204 of the Administrative Building, and the two sides discussed the development of academic cooperation and exchanges between the two universities. Heads of the President’s Office, the Office for Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs, and the Office for Students’ Affairs attended the event.


President Yu Tao extended a warm welcome to the visit of President Ge Zixiang and his delegation, and made a brief introduction to SUES and the achievements in recent years. He indicated that the visit of the delegation of teachers and students from LHU in early July laid a solid foundation for the cooperation between the two sides. He stressed that the two universities have similar educational concepts and disciplinary settings, and would strengthen cooperation in student exchanges, joint scientific research, faculty visits and other aspects in the future. Exchanges between mainland and Taiwan universities are of great significance to the development of cross-strait education, and the two universities have mutual affinity, hoping that faculty and students of both sides will strengthen interaction and achieve fruitful cooperation results in the future.

President Ge Zixiang expressed his sincere gratitude to SUES for the warm reception and appreciated SUES’ characteristics and educational achievements. He made a comprehensive introduction to LHU from the aspects of its development history, school-running philosophy and characteristics, teaching and scientific research achievements, etc. He hoped that by initiating the exchanges between faculty and students of the two universities, the two sides could achieve more cooperation results in talent cultivation, scientific research cooperation, academic exchanges and other aspects, so as to benefit faculty and students of the two universities.

At the meeting, the two universities held a cooperation agreement signing ceremony to formally establish a partnership. This will build a broader academic exchange platform for faculty and students of the two universities and promote the development of both sides in talent education, scientific research and innovation.

During the visit, President Ge Zixiang and his delegation also visited the relevant laboratories and had an in-depth understanding of the teaching and scientific research of SUES. With the joint efforts of both sides, the cooperation between the two universities will achieve more substantive results and make positive contributions to promoting the prosperity and development of cross-strait education.
