4-year undergraduate program; Bachelor of Engineering

Features: this Major is a pilot major approved by the Ministry of Education under the “Excellent Engineer Education & Training Program”, a national featured major, a major under a major under Shanghai Education Highland Project and s supported by a national engineering practice education center.

This Major is oriented to the industry needs, and the theories and technology related to rail transportation engineering disciplines constitute the main line; it deals with the crossing and integration of urban rail transport knowledge with  and transportation organization, modern management science, economics and other theories and computer, engineering drawing, software simulation and other technologies. During teaching and training, the School emphasizes the integration of knowledge with engineering practices, and strengthens the engineering practice and engineering innovation ability. The School adopts “3+1” university-enterprise joint training mode, namely: 3 years’ study on campus, one cumulative year’s enterprise engineering practice and graduation design. Students are expected to be trained into high-quality engineering and technical talents who: have a good grasp of the fundamental knowledge, outstanding professional quality and comprehensive quality; have a good command of the theories and engineering practice abilities relating to rail transportation operations management, information management, computer simulation, etc.

Main Courses: since the second year in the university, Students will systematically learn the basic theoretical transportation knowledge, and be trained with practical and innovative abilities. The core courses include Rail Transportation Information Processing Technology, Traffic Simulation, Rail Transit Network Planning, Rail Transit Station Design, Rail Transportation Operation Management, Rail Transit Passenger Organization, Rail Transit Safety Engineering, Rail Transit Enterprise Management and other professional courses; the School has set practical course corresponding to the theoretical courses, such as Integrated Simulation Experiment, internship on the key rail transportation operation posts, etc.

Employment orientation: this Major is closely connected with the development d needs of modern rail transport; graduates will seek job opportunities mainly in the enterprises, universities, research institutes, government departments and other units that are related to rail transportation and railway industry and involves operation  and management, and they engage in transportation planning, transportation, Station design, station management, scheduling decisions, emergency management and other related work.
