On April 25, a delegation from Aalto University, Finland visited SUES, including Ms. Kristiina Kemetter, Head of Legal and member of the President’s Management Team, Dr. Kirsi Kettula, Head of Global Engagement, Leadership Support Services, and Ms. Saara Sokolnicki, Manager of International Relations at the School of Engineering. Lou Yongqi, President of SUES, met with the delegation. Wang Qin, Head of the International Office, attended the meeting.
Lou Yongqi outlined SUES’ talent development model driven by the 3-wings integration of “Engineering × Management × Design”, and its goal of building a world-class application-oriented, innovation-driven university. He emphasized the University’s commitment to industry-education integration and practice-based learning, using urban spaces as “authentic classrooms”, breaking campus boundaries, and advancing collaboration among the University, local governments, and enterprises. He noted that Aalto University has a strong global profile in design-driven innovation, interdisciplinary integration, and innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystems, and that the two sides can pursue practical cooperation in areas such as engineering technology, intelligent manufacturing, and design innovation.

Kristiina Kemetter and Kirsi Kettula presented Aalto’s strengths in interdisciplinary education, innovation and entrepreneurship, and international cooperation. They noted the strong alignment between the two universities in development philosophy and disciplinary structure, and expressed interest in advancing collaboration in international talent cultivation, joint interdisciplinary programs, and research collaboration by working out specific cooperation paths.
The delegation visited SUES’ Emerging Technologies Laboratory, where they learned about its work in interdisciplinary talent training, research innovation, and industry-university-research collaboration. The guests spoke highly of the Lab’s open, integrative approach and its practice-oriented model.
Both sides also held in-depth discussions on joint student training, short-term exchange programs, faculty exchange, and research collaboration. The visit deepened mutual understanding and laid a solid foundation for future cooperation.
