On April 29, the Six Excellences and One Top plan 2.0 kick-off conference was jointly held in Tianjin by the Ministry of Education, the Central Politics and Law Committee, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the Health and Health Committee, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Academy of Social Sciences, the Academy of Engineering, the Forestry and Grass Bureau, the Chinese Medicine Bureau and the China Association for Science and Technology.
At the meeting, Professor Xia Jianguo was appointed as a member of the “New Engineering Disciplines” Construction Working Group of the Ministry of Education. The Ministry of Education's ““New Engineering Disciplines” construction working group has gathered the top experts in the field of emerging engineering research and practice in China, and will play an important role in comprehensively promoting the construction of new engineering and coordinating the promotion of the “Six Excellences and One Top” plan 2.0.
The meeting stressed that it is necessary to thoroughly study and implement Xi Jinping's socialist ideology with Chinese characteristics in the new era, comprehensively implement the spirit of the National Education Conference, and fully carry out the Six Excellences and One Top plan 2.0 in accordance with the requirements of Accelerating the Implementation Plan of Educational Modernization (2018-2022). The development of new engineering science, medical science, agricultural science and liberal arts will push forward a quality revolution in colleges and universities across the country, forming a quality China brand covering all fields of higher education, and winning the battle to revitalize undergraduate education in an all-round way.
In order to promote the construction of new engineering science, medical science, agricultural science and new liberal arts, and to do a good job in the implementation of the Excellent Student Training Plan 2.0, the Ministry of Education has established the Expert Committee of Excellent Student Training Plan 2.0.
In October 2018, the Ministry of Education issued documents of Opinions of the Ministry of Education on Accelerating the Construction of High-level Undergraduate Education and Improving the Ability to Cultivate Talents in an All-round Way and decided to implement Six Excellences and One Top Plan 2.0.
