On August 31, a delegation led by Raúl Sánchez Prieto, Vice-Rector for International Relations of the University of Salamanca, Spain, visited SUES. Vice President Xia Chunming received the guests at the Industry-Education Integration Building on Changning Campus. Representatives from the International Office and School of Continuing Education attended the meeting.
Xia Chunming extended a warm welcome to the delegation and provided an overview of SUES’ application-oriented educational features, disciplinary development, and progress in internationalization. He noted that the two institutions share compatible educational philosophies, complementary disciplinary strengths, and a solid foundation for cooperation. He expressed the hope that both sides would accelerate the launch of a 2+0 joint master’s degree program, refine matters related to talent cultivation, and establish a platform for developing internationally oriented talents.
Raúl Sánchez Prieto expressed his gratitude for the reception and introduced the University of Salamanca. With a history of over 800 years, the university has a high degree of internationalization and strong research capabilities in fields such as cybersecurity, big data, and artificial intelligence. He expressed his expectation to fully leverage the university’s disciplinary and academic resources, deepen practical cooperation between the two institutions, and jointly promote the implementation of the joint master’s program.
Both sides held in-depth discussions on the 2+0 joint master’s program, exchanging views on program duration, core curricula, university-specific courses, the dual-supervisor system, language of instruction, and enrollment size. They also clarified the timeline for program application. Both parties agreed to establish a joint working group to coordinate curriculum design, document preparation, and accreditation procedures.
Both sides stated that they would take this meeting as an opportunity to collaboratively advance all preparatory work for the program, join forces in cultivating application-oriented innovative talents with a global perspective, and promote higher education exchanges and cooperation between China and Spain.
