In addition, the four teams with faculty advisors Xu Bosheng, Xiao Xiang and Zhu Meng from School of Fundamental Studies and Huang Lixin from Engineering Training Center won the second prizes (Honorable Mention); furthermore, another three teams won the prizes as successful Participants; thus our University won eight prizes in total.

American College Students Interdisciplinary Contest in Modeling (MCM / ICM) is the only international mathematical contest in modeling and the world’s most influential mathematical modeling contest. It is the origin of various mathematical modeling contests. American College Students Interdisciplinary Contest in Modeling emphasizes application of mathematical knowledge and interdisciplinary approaches to solve hot social issues and focuses on originality of the solutions and rationality of the results. The contest was synchronously held from 9:00 a.m. on January 29 to 9:00 a.m. on February 2, 2016 (Beijing Time) across the world through the internet.    More than 10,000 teams from China, Germany, the United States, Britain, Canada and other countries participated in the contest. Three college students forms a team, and each team shall complete analysis and selection of the contest problems, Chinese and English literature review, modeling building, solving the problem through model, software programming and English paper writing within 96 hours and finally submits a paper to the contest organizing committee. As the contest was close to Spring Festival, the faculty advisors and participating teams overcame difficulties and collaborated painstakingly with each other; they finally successfully submitted the paper and gained excellent results.

The School of Automotive Engineering attached great importance to the contest. Dean of the School Wang Yansong, Party Secretary Zhou Jie, Deputy Party Luo Suyun actively provided support and guarantee for the contest. The School relied on “Automotive People” Kechuang Central Platform and appointed Counselor She Haizhou to take charge of those matters.
