With the acceleration of the world economic integration and the rapid development of science and technology, the logistics industry has, as a new industry in the national economy, become a new growth point of the national economy. As Shanghai gives priority in developing advanced manufacturing industry and strategic emerging industries and modern service industry, this Major is set in order to meet the needs for logistics management talents. Based on management science, economics, logistics and supply chain management theory, and by adopting the research methods of operation science, systems engineering and other management science, students of this Major will take logistics information technology as a tool to learn about the related knowledge. With international logistics as its professional characteristics and based on the full understanding of the current status of China's logistics industry, teachers will train students by reference to the history of global logistics industry and the world's advanced experience in developed countries and in line with the training concept of “wide-caliber, thick foundation, significant characteristics”; students are expected to be trained into high-quality application-oriented management talents who can: adapt to the trend of economic globalization, the development of modern logistics requirements; master the operational rules of modern logistics; are familiar with the logistics business knowledge; have the ability in the logistics system analysis and operational capability.

Employment Orientation: graduates of this Major have a solid grasp of fundamental knowledge and strong practical ability, and are proficient in use of foreign language and computer application. After graduation, they can work at harbor wharfs, large group companies, multinational corporations, business enterprises, Freight forwarding companies, industrial enterprises, logistics services enterprises and institutions, and engage in international logistics, domestic logistics, logistics business technology or business management.
