On April 1st, the key processing technology and industrialization of high performance nano photo-catalysis functional textiles, the research fruit of SUES school of fashion design, was awarded the second prize for scientific advancement in Shanghai at the conference of Shanghai scientific awards presided over by Shanghai Municipal Government and Committee and held at the hall of friendship in Shanghai Exhibition Center. The scientific project was completed under the joint efforts of the scientific innovation team led by Prof. Shen Yong and with the support of Shanghai Longtou Home Textiles Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Automobile Carpet Co., Ltd.

 

The dyeing and finishing team of SUES school of fashion design made a breakthrough in the relevant technologies of the uniform dispersal of nano-particles and their fast binding with fibers by overcoming several technological barriers and completing many technological inventions. The team developed the "one step" hydrolysis preparation and production technology in the textile functional finishing of modified nanometer titanium dioxide, feasible finishing process of modified nanometer titanium dioxide in textiles, and photo-catalytic, antibacterial, anti UV multi-functional finishing agents used for a wide range of textiles; solved the difficulty of the uniform dispersal of nano-particles and their fast binding with fibers; and established the production base of nano multifunctional textile fabrics, home textiles, automotive interior fabrics. All the above accomplishments have led to the large-scale specialized production of nano multifunctional textiles that meet international standards, with a broad and brilliant market prospect and remarkable social benefits and economic profits.

 

 

The award received for the scientific achievement not only symbolizes the strength and level of the research team, but also embodies the model of linking teaching and education to practical industries based on the platform of the alliance between industrial production, teaching and research in SUES and its school of fashion design as well as the SUES’s philosophy of serving the local economy based on modern industries in Shanghai.

Over the recent years, school of fashion design has been constantly strengthening the connection between teaching and its application in industries under the care of university leadership and relevant administrative departments. Looking into the future, school of fashion design will, based on “the public platform of Shanghai fashion design innovative design and digital technology” on Shanghai’s R & D platform, offer a wide variety of information and service support to the R & D ,innovation and entrepreneurship of Shanghai’s textiles and fashion design industry by improving its discipline platform, elevating the inner construction level and scientific innovation public service system, strengthening partnership between teaching and industry, and enhancing the capability of SUES school of fashion design serving local economy and social developments.
