SUES was awarded with one Special Prize, 10 First Prizes, 28 Second Prizes, and 56 Third Prizes after fierce competition with rivals from Shanghai Jiaotong University, Tongji University and East China Normal University in the second round of this year’s National English Contest for College Students.

On the afternoon of June 12, the Organizing Committee of Shanghai Division held the awarding ceremony of the 16th National English Competition for College Students in Shanghai Jiaotong University. Zhang Zhongkui, head of the tutoring team, attended the ceremony to receive prizes on behalf of SUES. This year, there were a total of 28 participating universities with 118 finalists, of whom 18 won special prizes. SUES is honored to have one special prize winner.

In the meantime, SUES also won the prize for excellent organizer for this competition, which should be attributed to the strenuous efforts made by working staff from Department of Teaching Affairs, teachers from School of Fundamental Studies and participating students.

In the preliminary competition, a total of more than 1,000 students were organized to participate in the contest by School of Fundamental Studies under the supervision of Department of Teaching Affairs. Finally, 11 students (2 postgraduates in Band A, 6 undergraduates in Band C, and 3 students of associate degree in Band C) were selected to compete in the finals, with effective and targeted competition coaching offered by Zhang Zhongkui, head of the tutoring team consisting of experienced teachers and under the guidance of Liu Xiaoming, vice Dean  of School of Fundamental Studies. Hopefully, constant efforts can be made by both the faulty from School of Fundamental Studies and students to score more brilliant achievements next year.
