On March 25, during his visit to Dongseo University in South Korea, Lou Yongqi, President of SUES, held a special meeting with student representatives from International Institute of Creative Design of SUES who are currently studying there on exchange. The meeting focused on key topics such as teaching innovation, academic activities, and student development. President Lou extended SUES’ care and expectations to the students abroad. The visit also marked an important step in deepening international cooperation and promoting the internationalization of talent cultivation.

At the meeting, undergraduate students majoring in Digital Media Art (Sino-Korean cooperative program) and postgraduate students specializing in Exhibition and Space Environment Design (Sino-foreign cooperative program) gathered for a face-to-face discussion with President Lou. Referring to SUES’ development strategy, international talent cultivation, and the advancement of design disciplines, President Lou explained SUES’ guiding principle of “born from industry, growing with industry, and thriving by serving industry,” as well as its goal of building a “world-class, application-oriented innovative university with distinctive industrial characteristics.” He noted that SUES is promoting the integrated development of the 3-wings initiative of “Engineering + Management + Design,” strengthening teaching innovation and academic leadership, and striving to cultivate interdisciplinary, application-oriented innovative talents with international perspectives, global competence, innovative leadership, and strong execution abilities. These efforts aim to provide students with a broad platform for international development.

During the discussion, the student representatives from SUES enthusiastically shared their experiences studying at Dongseo University and raised questions. President Lou listened carefully and responded to each of them. He encouraged students to pay attention to real life, understand social needs and authentic human experiences, and actively embrace emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence. He emphasized the importance of continuously improving interdisciplinary integration skills and innovative practical abilities.

The overseas meeting not only allowed students from SUES studying in South Korea to feel the warmth and care of their home university, but also further strengthened their sense of belonging and mission. It also demonstrated SUES’ positive achievements in faculty leadership, strategic advancement, and collaborative international education. In the future, SUES will continue to deepen international educational cooperation and exchange, improve its international talent cultivation system, and provide students with more high-quality resources and development opportunities for their growth and success.
