SUES Signs Cooperation Agreement with Federation University Australia

On June 12, a delegation led by Chancellor Philip Freier of Federation University Australia visited SUES. President Lou Yongqi welcomed the guests on Songjiang Campus, where the two sides held inter-university cooperation talks and signed an international cooperation agreement. Representatives from the International Office and School of Higher Vocational Education attended the meeting.

 


President Lou Yongqi extended a warm welcome to Chancellor Freier and his delegation and introduced SUES’ history, distinctive characteristics, and development vision. He noted that the university is actively advancing its goal of becoming a world-class university focused on applied innovation and continuously promoting the 3-wings integration of “Engineering × Management × Design.” Leveraging Shanghai’s rich industrial resources and dynamic innovation ecosystem, SUES is deepening industry-education integration, strengthening university–enterprise collaboration, and enhancing practice-oriented education to cultivate high-quality innovative talent for future industries. President Lou expressed the hope that both universities would capitalize on their shared strengths in applied and vocational education and use the signing of the agreement as an opportunity to pursue practical cooperation in areas such as Sino-foreign cooperative education programs, faculty and student exchanges, and industry–academia–research collaboration, jointly exploring new pathways for the innovative development of higher education.

 


Chancellor Freier expressed gratitude for the warm reception and provided an overview of Federation University. He stated that with over 150 years of history, Federation University is one of Australia's leading dual-sector universities, committed to providing students with diverse pathways from vocational education to higher education. Going forward, the two universities will prioritize joint talent cultivation and student exchange programs in fields such as mechanical engineering, electrical and information engineering, further expanding areas of cooperation to nurture high-caliber talent with global perspectives and practical capabilities.

During the visit, Chancellor Freier and his delegation toured the Innovation & Chip Lab of School of Materials Science and Engineering, gaining insights into SUES' achievements in talent cultivation and practical teaching in electronic packaging technology.

 

The signing of the agreement marks a new stage in the partnership between SUES and Federation University, Australia. It lays a solid foundation for broader and deeper collaboration in applied and innovative higher education and will create more international opportunities for faculty members and students of both universities.
