Rector of Mongolia’s University of Engineering and Technology Leads Delegation to SUES

On September 24, a delegation from the University of Engineering and Technology of Mongolia, led by Rector Bayarmaa Tsogtbaatar, visited SUES. Vice President Xia Chunming met with the delegation on Songjiang Campus. Representatives from the International Office, School of Higher Vocational Education, Engineering Training Center (Innovation and Entrepreneurship College), and College of International Education attended the meeting.

Xia Chunming warmly welcomed Tsogtbaatar and her delegation. He noted that the two universities share a strong focus on engineering and technology education, with both emphasizing application-oriented education and hands-on learning. He expressed the hope that the visit would mark the beginning of stable, sustained and mutually beneficial cooperation in areas such as talent development, faculty exchanges, research collaboration, international student programs and pathways to further study. He also looked forward to jointly building a bridge for engineering education cooperation between Shanghai and Ulaanbaatar.

Tsogtbaatar expressed her appreciation for SUES’ warm hospitality. She introduced the history of the University of Engineering and Technology, its multi-level education system and its CDIO-based engineering education reform. She highlighted the university’s strengths in civil engineering and architecture, information technology, and mechanical manufacturing, and expressed interest in practical cooperation with SUES in vocational education pathways, university-industry collaborative education and international exchange.

During the meeting, representatives from the International Office, School of Higher Vocational Education, Innovation and Entrepreneurship College, and College of International Education exchanged views with the delegation on student innovation and entrepreneurship programs, vocational training, short- and long-term student exchanges, and international study programs in China. The two sides reached preliminary consensus on a number of areas for future cooperation.

During the visit, the delegation toured SUES’ Shanghai Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Experimental Base for Higher Education Institutions, Innovation & Chip Lab, and the Boeing 737-800 simulator project. The visits provided the delegation with a closer look at SUES’ achievements in innovation and entrepreneurship education, engineering practice and training, and the integration of industry, education and research.
