
On January 23, a delegation from the University of Zaragoza, Spain, led by Rector Rosa María Bolea Bailo, visited SUES. President Lou Yongqi and Vice President Xia Chunming met with the guests on Songjiang Campus. Heads of the International Office, School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering, School of Management Studies, School Continuing Education, and College of International Education attended the meeting, which was chaired by Vice President Xia Chunming.

Lou Yongqi extended a warm welcome to Rector Rosa María Bolea Bailo and her delegation and introduced SUES’ history and educational characteristics. He pointed out that since its establishment, SUES has always adhered to serving national strategies and local economic and social development. The university persists in industry-oriented education, promotes the interdisciplinary integration of engineering + management + design, and is committed to building a world-class applied and innovative university with distinct industrial characteristics. He stated that Shanghai, as a globally significant industrial and innovative city, provides broad space for universities to deepen interdisciplinary studies and practical innovation. He expressed hope that based on highly aligned disciplines, both sides would jointly explore future-oriented cooperation paths and become co-creators of innovative development.

Rosa María Bolea Bailo sincerely thanked SUES for its warm reception and introduced the development and educational philosophy of the University of Zaragoza. She noted that the University of Zaragoza boasts a long history and is a comprehensive university with a wide range of disciplines and outstanding research capabilities, consistently prioritizing internationalization as a key direction for development. The university has a solid foundation in engineering technology, management, humanities, and other fields, with remarkable achievements in transforming scientific research results. She remarked that SUES has demonstrated outstanding practical results in applied education, industry-education integration, and serving industries. Both sides share high similarities in educational philosophy, disciplinary structure, and development vision, and she expressed strong confidence in future cooperation. She sincerely invited SUES to visit the University of Zaragoza to further deepen exchanges.

During the meeting, both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on talent cultivation, scientific research collaboration, interdisciplinary studies, and Sino-foreign cooperative education. They agreed to steadily advance practical cooperation in areas of mutual strength and explore initial exchanges in areas such as Sino-foreign cooperative education and dual-degree programs.
During the visit, Rosa María Bolea Bailo and her delegation toured teaching and research facilities, including the New Energy Vehicle Vibration and Noise Testing and Control Professional Technical Service Platform, the Automotive Innovation Base, and the Boeing 737-800 Simulator Project, gaining further insight into SUES’ achievements in engineering practice, industry-education integration, and applied innovation.
The delegation from the University of Zaragoza also included three vice rectors responsible for Strategic Cooperation, Academic Affairs, and International Cooperation, reflecting the university’s high regard for cooperation with SUES. This visit laid a solid foundation for both sides to deepen mutual understanding and expand cooperation areas. Both parties expressed their commitment to using this meeting as an opportunity to strengthen communication and coordination, promote the gradual implementation of cooperative projects, and jointly advance exchanges and innovative development in higher education between China and Spain.
