Countdown to 100 days! Shanghai 2024 FISU World University Championship Futsal will be held from June 10 at SUES

The first time in Asia, the FISU World University Championship Futsal will be held at SUES from June 10, and 27 teams from 17 countries and regions will participate in the 7-day competition. On March 1, the competition ushered in the countdown of 100 days. The theme activity of the 100-day countdown to the 2024 FISU World University Championship Futsal and the news media briefing was held by SUES.

 


At the meeting, Zhu Xiaoqing, vice chairperson and secretary general of the organizing committee and vice president of SUES, indicated that the World University Futsal Championship, while showing the sportsmanship and stimulating the sports enthusiasm, will boost the construction of Shanghai as a world-famous sports city and promote the international level of the development of Shanghai campus football. At the same time, by promoting the realization of multi-level cultural exchanges and interaction through the competition and building a global university exchange platform, SUES will promote the exchanges between college students from all over the world and regions, present the cultures of various countries through the competition, and promote the development and dissemination of Chinese culture.

 


The FISU World University Championship Futsal is organized by the International University Sports Federation and held every two years. So far, it has been held for 17 times. In December 2019, the Chinese Futsal Association and SUES obtained the joint hosting right of the event. In March 2023, the International Futsal Federation conducted a site visit and fully recognized the venue plan provided by SUES.

 


The overall shape of the event emblem is composed of the image of the Shanghai city flower “Magnolia”, the initial letter U of University and a football with a star decorative pattern, conveying the competition principles of friendship and fairness, and the spiritual qualities of sincerity, purity and simplicity of the “Shanghai 2024 FISU World University Championship Futsal”. The mascot “Lan Lan” is designed by adopting anthropomorphic artistic techniques around the purpose of the International Futsal Federation and the Chinese Futsal Association, with the head derived from the Shanghai city flower Magnolia, and the five petals symbolizing the futsal football, echoing the theme.
