The School of Air Transportation (School of Flight) consists of several departments, including the department of flight technology, department of civil aviation transportation, department of aviation operation engineering, department of aviation maintenance engineering, the research center of modern civil aviation engineering, the central laboratory, the faculty office, and the student work office. The central laboratory houses a flight simulator training center, a flight simulation laboratory, an air cargo terminal simulation training laboratory, an aviation logistics case analysis room, a civil aviation engine lab, a logistics system simulation lab, a digital simulation laboratory, an aerospace composite foundation, and an aircraft accessory disassembling LABS, involving all business links of aviation enterprise operation. It has eight majors: flight technology, transportation (air traffic control/flight dispatch), transportation (aviation equipment maintenance), business administration (aviation management), logistics management (aviation logistics), aviation electromechanical equipment maintenance, aircrew, and civil aviation business. The School implements the quasi-military management of flight technology, studies and promotes the quasi-military management of crew, aviation, and management of civil aviation characteristics. It carries out aviation theory education and aviation practice training, covering many disciplines and broad technical categories. It has trained many civil aviation industry professionals with theoretical knowledge and a strong practical ability for Shanghai and other domestic and foreign civil aviation enterprises.
The discipline development of the School revolves around significant projects like the Innovative Experimental Zone for Training Model of Applied Talents in Civil Aviation Operation and Management, Municipal Education Commission's key discipline Modern Civil Aviation Engineering and Management,Research and Development of Modern Civil Aviation Flight Simulator, Six-DOF Platform Large Transport Aircraft Project/Flight Simulator, and Shanghai Imported Technology Absorption and Innovation Plan-Key Platform Construction Project of Industry-University-Research Cooperation. We have developed the B737-800 flight simulator, which meets the Class D standard of the Civil Aviation Administration of China. We insist on promoting the development of the Modern Civil Aviation Engineering discipline and specialty group based on the civil aviation industry's needs. We strive to create the brand effect, fully implement the development orientation plan of the college from 2008 to 2020, and build a service platform and provide a foundation for training a full range of civil aviation talents and carrying out teaching and research in civil aviation flight and simulation technology, civil aviation operation management, civil aviation aircraft fault diagnosis (maintenance) technology and civil aviation operation control technology. We have won the top ten typical cases of cooperation between Chinese universities and large enterprises, the first prize of the university exhibition area of China Industry Fair, the second prize of teaching achievements of the Ministry of Education, the first prize of teaching achievements of Shanghai, and the second prize of the Seventh Decision-making Consulting Research Achievement Award of Shanghai. Leaders have highly valued these awards at all levels, and they have expressed satisfaction with the effectiveness of discipline development. The work reflects the principle of complementarity with similar universities, highlights the connotation and characteristics of disciplines, and designates it as a research aspect of modern civil aviation engineering and management.
The future of the School of Air Transportation (School of Flying) is bright. We will promote the cooperation between higher education and civil aviation enterprises, grasp the development of engineering, management, and economics, and pursue the strategy of personnel training, discipline construction, scientific research, and social service through building an international aviation hub port in the Asia-Pacific region and creating a national large-scale civil airliner manufacturing project in Shanghai. We will integrate the five elements of human resources, discipline construction, professional ability, incentive mechanism, and work quality and efficiency and make new contributions to civil aviation construction and development!
