Appointment Ceremony of Zhou Bin as Distinguished Chair Professor

On the morning of October 29th, SUES held the appointment ceremony of distinguished chair professors. Zhou Bin, professor and doctoral supervisor of Institute of Cultural and Creative Industry, University of Southern California - Shanghai Jiao Tong University, was appointed as the distinguished chair professor of SUES. Li Jiang, Secretary of the SUES Party Committee attended the event. Gao Xiwen, Director of the Party Committee Office, Yuan Rong, Secretary of the Party Committee of School of Art and Design, Wang Qin, Director of International Cooperation and Exchange Office, and others attended the meeting.



Dr. Li Jiang, Secretary of the SUES Party Committee, awarded a letter of appointment to Professor Zhou Bin. Dr. Li Jiang stated that Professor Zhou Bin built a bridge between Chinese calligraphy and Western culture, and his joining would bring the implementation of globalization strategy of SUES to a new level.

Professor Zhou said that he was honored to be appointed, and hoped to take this opportunity to further promote the public diplomacy of Chinese calligraphy culture.



Professor Zhou Bin is mainly devoted to intercultural communication of calligraphy, and has been engaged in international popularization of calligraphy for a long time abroad. Since 2011, Professor Zhou Bin has been employed by the Chinese Language Group at the United Nations Headquarters to teach Chinese once a week to UN officials from all over the world.




In the afternoon of the same day, Professor Zhou Bin held a lecture on Chinese Calligraphy and Foreign Exchange at the Virtual Reality Center of Sino-Korean School of Multimedia Design. The lecture led everyone to enjoy the world of beautiful calligraphy, which was highly appreciated by teachers and students.
