YU Tao, male, ethnic Han Chinese, was born in Xiaoshan, Zhejiang Province, in December 1968, CPC member, Doctor of Engineering, researcher and doctoral supervisor. Currently serves as the Deputy Secretary of the CPC SUES Committee, President of Shanghai University of Engineering Science, Deputy to the 16th Shanghai Municipal People's Congress, Deputy Director of the 7th Shanghai Arbitration Commission and IFIP/TC5 Committee Member of International Federation for Information Processing.
He used to serve as Deputy Director of Shanghai Key Laboratory of Mechanical Automation and Robotics, Director of Scientific Research Department, Deputy Secretary General, Assistant to the President, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee of Shanghai University, Vice Chairman of Shanghai Association for Science and Technology, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee and President of Shanghai Polytechnic University, 11th and 12th member of Shanghai CPPCC, and Deputy Director of the Education, Science, Culture, Health and Sports Committee.
His main research interests are mechatronics technology and computer integrated manufacturing system (CIMS). He has completed more than 20 scientific research projects commissioned by enterprises, Shanghai Municipality, and the state. He has published more than 100 academic papers, of which more than 30 have been indexed by SCI and EI, and won two national invention patents, multiple utility model patents and three software copyrights. He has won the title of Model Worker in CIMS of National 863 Program and won several Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Awards.
