The 2019 International Conference on Robotics, Intelligent Control and Artificial Intelligence (RICAI 2019) took place at Shanghai University of Engineering Science from September 20th to 22nd, 2019, marking a successful event. The conference saw the participation of over 200 experts, scholars, and graduate students from eight countries, including Japan and the UK. Distinguished attendees such as Professor Zhu Lixue from Zhongkai University of Agriculture and Engineering, Professor Qian Jinwu, Head of Shanghai Robotics Society, Professor Zhang Dongning from China Electronics Technology Group Corporation, and Professor Zhou Mingyu, Secretary General of the Yangtze River Basin Intelligent Manufacturing and Robotics Industry Alliance, engaged in discussions on the forefront of robotics, AI, and intelligent control. The event was also graced by the presence of Dean Fang Yu and Vice Dean Cui Guohua from School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering of SUES, with Vice Dean He Tao presiding over the conference.
This conference was organized around new technologies in robotics, intelligent control, and AI applications within advanced manufacturing, featuring keynote speeches, thematic forums, and paper presentations. The conference showcased insights from esteemed experts like Professor Qian Jinwu, Professor Zhang Dongning, Professor Cui Guohua, and Professor Li Jiping, who addressed a range of scientific issues in intelligent manufacturing. Their discussions spanned from intelligent collaborative operation technology and self-health assessment in robotics to human-centric development and the integration of fashion and comfort in AI design. The conference also included three thematic sub-forums, where over 130 experts and scholars shared their research through presentations.
In the Industry 4.0 era, the application of mechanical engineering in robotics, intelligent control, and AI presents new challenges and unprecedented opportunities. This conference offered a comprehensive platform for scholars to share and discuss the latest academic achievements in these fields, enhancing the global recognition of Shanghai University of Engineering Science and fostering interdisciplinary and international collaboration. RICAI 2019 played a significant role in advancing SUES’ efforts to build first-class undergraduate programs and first-class disciplines in mechanical engineering.
