SUES Holds Cooperative Talks and Signs Memorandum of Understanding with Unitec Institute of Technology, New Zealand

On March 26, Simon Nash, Deputy Chief Executive of Unitec Institute of Technology, New Zealand, and his delegation visited SUES. Vice President Xia Chunming welcomed the guests at Meeting Room 204 of the Administration Building. Representatives from the International Office and School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering attended the meeting.


Xia Chunming extended a warm welcome to the delegation and introduced the university’s general profile and recent achievements. He noted that SUES and Unitec share a high degree of alignment in educational philosophy and development strengths. The signing of this Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) marks a new phase of formal collaboration between the two universities. He proposed that both universities focus on cooperation in disciplines such as Computer Science and Technology, Data Science and Big Data Technology, and Artificial Intelligence, so as to gradually establish a long-term, mutually beneficial partnership.

 


Simon Nash expressed sincere gratitude for the warm reception and highly commended SUES’ educational strengths and accomplishments. He pointed out that the long-standing sister-city relationship between Auckland and Shanghai provides a unique foundation for the friendship and cooperation between the two institutions. Given the similarities in academic offerings and educational objectives, he expressed strong confidence in the outcomes of faculty and student exchanges.

 

During the meeting, Xia Chunming and Simon Nash signed the Memorandum of Understanding between the two universities. The signing of this MoU will promote joint development in talent education, scientific research, and innovation.

 


Following the meeting, Simon Nash and his delegation visited relevant laboratories to gain an in-depth understanding of SUES’ teaching and research environment. It is believed that with the joint efforts of both sides, the collaboration will yield more substantive outcomes and open new prospects for SUES’ international development.
