On June 20th, President Lou Yongqi and Vice President Xia Chunming of SUES were invited to attend the “New Zealand Education Connect” (NZEC) event hosted by the New Zealand Embassy in China. The event centered on the signing of bilateral education cooperation agreements and the celebration of achievements in Sino-New Zealand educational exchange. It served as a key platform to deepen cultural and educational collaboration and to promote broader development of Sino-New Zealand relations.
New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon attended the event and delivered a keynote speech. He spoke highly of the longstanding educational partnership between China and New Zealand, emphasizing his willingness to further deepen people-to-people ties in areas such as education and tourism, based on the principles of mutual respect and understanding.

During the signing ceremony between New Zealand and Chinese higher education institutions, SUES President Lou Yongqi and Gus Gilmore, President of Unitec Institute of Technology, signed and exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and a Student Exchange Agreement. The two institutions will cooperate in areas such as joint research, dual-degree postgraduate programs, and faculty and student exchanges. Prime Minister Luxon personally witnessed this important moment.

During the event, President Lou Yongqi and Vice President Xia Chunming of SUES held talks with representatives from the New Zealand Prime Minister’s education delegation, reaching several initial agreements aimed at expanding cooperation across more fields and achieving resource sharing and mutual benefit.
