Recently, SUES received a confirmation letter from the Aviation Accreditation Board International (AABI), and the letter confirmed that the Traffic Management program and the Aircraft Manufacturing Engineering program at School of Air Transportation (School of Flying) have officially passed the international aviation professional certification. The certification is valid for 5 years (from July 15, 2022 to July 31, 2027). AABI is currently the only international aviation professional certification body, which certifies aviation-related programs at colleges and universities worldwide, aiming to promote the improvement of the level of aviation programs and the quality of talent training. This is the first time that SUES has carried out international certification of aviation programs and achieved an important breakthrough, marking that SUES has stepped onto a new level in professional construction, education and teaching reform and quality improvement, and nationalization strategy development.

The task of authentication of the two programs, Traffic Management and Aircraft Manufacturing Engineering program at School of Air Transportation (School of Flying) was officially launched in 2018. With strong support of the Academic Affairs Office, SUES became the second university in China with AABI education membership after the Civil Aviation University of China. In April 2020, the International Aviation Accreditation Committee officially accepted the application for international aviation professional certification of two programs. After that, enormous cares and support came from different departments for this certification task, such as the presidents at SUES, the leaders of the Academic Affairs Office, the International Exchange Office and other functional departments. At the same time, much effort was provided through active cooperation with industry enterprises. According to the AABI Certification Committee's Certification Standards Manual, the faculty and staff and the students at SUES worked hard together and prepared very carefully to move the task forward. After more than two years of hard work and unremitting efforts, SUES further improved the professional training objectives and graduation requirements, and optimized the construction of the curriculum system. Furthermore, the construction of the teaching staff and the management system of aviation safety culture consolidated the implementation of college-enterprise cooperation and sustainable improvement measures. And finally SUES met the requirements of professional certification with high standards successfully.
