We won! We won first place in all four days of the competition, which shows the strength of China. On 17 October, Professor Liu Xiang from School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering SUES excitedly posted a moment on WeChat at the WorldSkills 2022 Special Edition in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, Korea. As head of the Chinese technical guidance team for cloud computing at the WorldSkills Competition, his years of hard work and sweat were best rewarded when competitor Chen Xinyuan won a gold medal in cloud computing, achieving a zero breakthrough for China in this category.
Professor Liu Xiang has been the head of the Chinese technical guidance team for cloud computing at the WorldSkills Competition since 2021 and is responsible for the training of the national team and the selection of competitors for the World Championships. At the WorldSkills Competition Special Edition held in Korea, there were competitors from 14 countries in the cloud computing category. He also emphasizes practicality, constructs an all-English competition environment, regards each training as a world competition, and attaches importance to fairness, building a team atmosphere with healthy cooperation and fair competition, so that every player can make progress. At the same time, the best players are selected to participate in the competition on behalf of the country.
Winning the prize in this WorldSkills Competition also increased Professor Liu Xiang's confidence in comprehensively promoting cloud computing education in SUES. The “new infrastructure” represented by cloud, AI, 5G technology, etc. is showing great vitality. The breakthrough of this competition displays the strength of China in the modern information industry. Professor Liu Xiang said, We still need to keep working hard! It is hoped that relying on the cloud computing China technical guidance expert team, leading enterprises in the industry will be introduced to SUES, virtual teaching and research section will be established, and the training system will be reconstructed. At the same time, it is necessary to develop course materials, strengthen the cultivation of practical ability of engineering, promote the rapid development of cloud computing education, consolidate the talent base of the cloud computing industry, and contribute to the development of the industry.
