On the afternoon of December 6, SUES held the first joint management committee meeting of International Institute of Creative Design with Korea National Gongju University and Korea Dongseo University via video conference. President Yu Tao and Vice President Xia Chunming, President Won Sungsoo of Korea National Gongju University and President Chang Jekuk of Korea Dongseo University attended the meeting and delivered speeches. The heads of relevant functional departments and schools of the three universities were also present. The meeting was chaired by Vice President Xia Chunming.
At the meeting, President Yu Tao firstly expressed his gratitude to the three universities for their efforts and hard work in the process of application and preparation of the International Institute of Creative Design in the past two years. He pointed out that the year of 2022 is the 30th anniversary since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Korea, and also the year of cultural exchange between China and Korea. In this special year, the successful approval of the International Institute of Creative Design is of great significance. He recalled the long history of friendly relations between the people of China and Korea ,hoping that the three universities will take the International Institute of Creative Design as a carrier to deepen the cooperation in various fields such as faculty-student communication, scientific research cooperation, talent cultivation and cultural exchange, which will benefit the faculty and students of the three universities and set an excellent model for the cultural exchange and educational cooperation between the two countries.
President Won Sungsoo of Korea National Gongju University said that Korea National Gongju University and SUES have a long history of cooperation, and the approval of the International Institute of Creative Design is a good opportunity for both universities to diversify their educational development and globalize their talent training during the pandemic. They look forward to working with SUES and Korea Dongseo University to build the International Institute of Creative Design into a new model of global education and cultivation that responds to the new era and the latest development, expecting the outstanding graduates of the International Institute of Creative Design to shine on the international stage in the future.
President Chang Jekuk of Korea Dongseo University said that since the signing of the agreement between the two universities in 2002, we have achieved fruitful results in various fields such as educational cooperation, student and faculty exchange and talent training, which has enhanced the friendship between the two universities for long. The approval of the International Institute of Creative Design is the right strategic choice based on the high trust between the three universities and the foresight in education. It is expected that the three universities will continue to maintain a closer relationship in the future, with the International Institute of Creative Design as a carrier, creating a characteristic talent training model that combines the advantages of the three universities, realizing the deep internationalization of educational cooperation, working together to create more fruitful schooling results, and striving to cultivate internationally competitive and composite talents.
The joint management committee also voted to approve the members for the first joint committee of the International Institute of Creative Design, as well as the chief personnel appointments and dismissals of the Institute, and considered the preparation for the enrollment of the International Institute of Creative Design in 2023 and the arrangements for the establishment and inauguration ceremony, which laid a solid foundation for the operation of the Institute.
