On the afternoon of July 2, the inauguration ceremony of the Research Center for Pharmaceutical Intelligent Preparations and Intelligent Manufacturing of Shanghai University of Engineering Science was held in the administrative building 208. Academician Hou Huimin of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Professor Zhang Weidong of Second Military Medical University, Party Secretary Li Jiang of Shanghai University of Engineering Science, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President Xia Jianguo of Shanghai University of Engineering Science, Vice President Wang Yansong, and principals of the National Engineering Research Center for Pharmaceutical Preparations, leaders of relevant functional offices and colleges attended the inauguration ceremony of the center. The inauguration ceremony of the center was presided over by Vice President Wang Yansong.
Academician Hou Huimin Delivered a Speech at the Opening Ceremony of the Center. He pointed out that there is a big gap between China's drug intelligent manufacturing level and that of developed countries. It is a very meaningful thing and his wish for Shanghai University of Engineering and Technology to take the lead in setting up a research center for drug intelligent preparations and intelligent manufacturing. A good engineering background of the SUES plays a strong supporting role in the construction of the center. He said that today's unveiling is only the starting point of the center. He hoped to turn the center into an influential research center in the industry in about 2 years, to present a gift to the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Party, and to contribute to the promotion of the level of intelligent drug manufacturing in China and the realization of the dream of a powerful drug manufacturing country.
On behalf of SUES, Secretary Li Jiang thanked Academician Hou for his trust and concern and warmly welcomed Academician Hou and his party to SUES for guidance. Secretary Li pointed out that the Party committee will fully support the construction of the research center for pharmaceutical intelligent preparations and intelligent manufacturing， provide all-round guarantee for the research center to become a first-class research and development platform in China, and sincerely expect the research center to bear fruitful results under the guidance of Academician Hou Huimin.
At the inauguration ceremony of the Center, Secretary Li Jiang and Academician Hou Huimin jointly unveiled the Research Center for Pharmaceutical Intelligent Preparations and Intelligent Manufacturing. President Xia Jianguo awarded the letters of appointment to Academician Hou Huimin and Professor Zhang Weidong as tenured and part-time professors respectively.
The Research Center for Pharmaceutical Intelligent Preparations and Intelligent Manufacturing of Shanghai University of Engineering Science will take Shanghai's construction of a global scientific research center as its lead, take pharmaceutical intelligent manufacturing and intelligent preparations as its core tasks, and establish an international interdisciplinary innovation team for pharmaceutical intelligent preparations and intelligent manufacturing through interdisciplinary disciplines such as pharmacy, chemistry, biology, machinery, automation, artificial intelligence, etc., relying on the team of Academician Hou Huimin and the National Engineering Research Center for Pharmaceutical Preparations. With a view to achieving a revolutionary breakthrough in several major scientific issues and key common technologies, it is committed to becoming a first-class research and development platform integrating academic research, technological development, achievement transformation and personnel training with distinctive influence in China's pharmaceutical industry.
