A Successful holding of work conference on employment and collaboration between industry and education in 2014
At the beginning of the meeting, Xu Yang, chief of department of student affairs,
delivered a speech summarizing SUES student employment and cooperation between industry and education in 2013 and also on the follow-up survey of employment of SUES graduates last year. Despite a grave employment situation, under the leadership of SUES party committee and joint efforts made by all SUES faculty members and students, a complete success was achieved in employment and co- education with the signing rate of 75.90% (the proportion of students signing the employment contract) and employment rate of 98.10%, both of which were far ahead of other local universities. In 2013, a total of 8,300 students were involved in the SUES Co-education program, with a 99.6% participation rate among students and a satisfaction rate of 97.3% on the part of companies.
In the subsequent award ceremony, SUES vice president Sun Peilei read out the names of outstanding schools and individuals in 2013 collaboration between SUES and the industry, and moreover awarded medals and certificates to them. SUES president Ding Xiaodong announced the names of best ten employers of SUES graduates and conferred on Shanghai Railway Bureau and other enterprises the title of “Best Ten Employers of Graduates”. Afterwards, president Ding Xiaodong and Tian Haitao, general manager of Shanghai Qiyate Energy Co., Ltd. attended the unveiling ceremony of the new site of collaboration between SUES and the industry for 2014. At the meeting, Wang Jian, chief of human resources department of Shanghai Railway Bureau, Prof. Wang Yansong, chief of school of automobile engineering, Li Shuxiao, a student from school of Chemical Engineering all made speeches from their respective perspectives.
President Ding Xiaodong made concluding remarks by firmly approving the work undertaken in the cooperation between SUES teaching and the industry in 2013 and expressing gratitude to all the companies involved in such collaboration for their generous support. Afterwards, President Ding Xiaodong put forward some requirements concerning the collaboration between SUES education and the industry for 2014, pointing out that the three models of cooperation: i.e. jointly cultivating talents, jointly running universities, and jointly making innovations, have turned out a large number of high-quality students with practical skills highly welcomed by companies. With the ongoing active promotion and implementation of full-credit educational reform, he hoped that all schools and relevant administrative departments should closely link the feedback on SUES graduates from companies to SUES teaching reform, strengthen the connection and cooperation between student employment and teaching, and accelerate the reform of Co-education featuring “the integration of teaching and industry based on five study sessions and three semesters in a school year.”
