In order to increase our school’s “Twelve Five” internal construction, on March 5, President Ding Xiaodong, Vice President Cheng Weiming and Lu Jiahua, led some leaders of relevant departments paid official visits respectively to Shanghai Marine University and Shanghai Marine Affairs University and had a deep communication concerning undergraduate education quality elevation, subject construction, talent development, human resources policy reform and some other aspects.
In the morning, the leaders first arrived at Shanghai Marine University and visited the school history museum and experiment rooms. Cheng Yudong, President of Shanghai Marine University, He Ya, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Feng Jinzhang, Vice President and some leaders of relevant departments attended the communication discussion. President Cheng Yudong briefly introduced their school’s historical development and subject characteristics, explained the layout situation of education, research and platform, pointed out that undergraduate education quality must be controlled as a whole and teaching faculty must be effectively allocated and so on. Besides, President Cheng also introduced the FD project for increasing the teaching faculty’s educational and teaching ability, and the method of using the student evaluation system and setting rationally the index system in order to evaluate teaching results pertinently. President Ding Xiaodong introduced our school’s historical development and the characteristics of constructing subjects for industry purpose and talent development based on production and study cooperation. He made a detailed explanation on our school’s joint development with industry ,educational mode of combining production and study, joint education with industry and the mode of developing excellent engineers,joint innovation with the industry,construction of platform of excellent talent development, and “blend of production and study” by means of “three semesters and five stages”, and the upgraded mode of “three coordinations”. The two schools also had a very deep discussion as to talent group construction, encouragement plan implementation and so on.
In the afternoon, the school leaders were warmly welcomed by Shanghai Marine Affairs University and visited Sailing Simulator, Library and so on. Huang Youfang, President of Shanghai Marine Affairs University, Kong Fancun, Deputy Secretary of Party Committee and Vice President, Yang Wanfeng, Vice President and leaders of some relevant departments attended the communication discussion. President Huang Youfang pointed out that Shanghai Marine Affairs University and SUES both belong to Shanghai local universities and have some similarities in subject design. The two schools have a very large space for cooperation, may support each other, complement advantages in the major of transportation and form characteristics, learn from each other in terms of school management and increase quality together. President Huang introduced three experiences of school layout guide, high attention to teaching and student source quality, and he talked about using the coordinated innovation plan of 2011 and the opportunity of Shanghai FTA construction to develop major advantages and build subject highland and summit. The two schools also had a deep discussion as to undergraduate education quality elevation, postgraduate development, subject characteristics construction, innovation research management system, high-quality talent team construction and so on.
