Ms. Chai Liwei won the Shanghai “Magnolia Award”

On the afternoon of Sept 4th, the presentation ceremony of 2014 Shanghai Magnolia Award was held in Shangri-la Hotel in Shanghai. Chai Liwei, Dean of Sino-French IFA Institute of Fashion Designer, won this honor and accepted the medal and the certificate from Lee Ming-jun, Director of Shanghai Municipal Foreign Affairs. The following also attended the ceremony: SUES vice President Cheng Wei-ming, Director of International Office Qian Hui-min, the board Chairman of Sino-French IFA Institute of Fashion Designer Gu Si-ming.

Ms. Chai has long devoted herself to SUES cooperation education, introducing the advanced fashion teaching concepts and systems to China. With her help, the first Sino-foreign art and fashion design undergraduate program was co-established in China by French IFA Paris and SUES. In the past decade, Sino-French IFA Institute of Fashion Designer cultivated a lot of interdisciplinary talents who have creative design concepts and are sensitive to high-end fashion and have strong practical abilities. The students have won a lot of awards in various kinds of design competitions at home and abroad and they have attended many fore-front fashion activities. This co-operation program was accredited by Shanghai Municipal Education Evaluation Association in 2012. Currently, more and more graduate students are active in the fashion stages at home and abroad and they are highly thought by the professionals in the fashion field.

  The annual Shanghai Magnolia Award was established by Shanghai Municipal Government in 1989. In this year’s 25th award ceremony, all the winners were recommended by the units from Shanghai and reviewed by the Assessment Panel and approved by the Shanghai Municipal Foreign Affairs. 50 foreigners from 22 countries won the Magnolia Awards, who have contributed a lot to Shanghai’s economic and social development and foreign exchanges. Five among them are from universities in Shanghai.
