Research Fields
The campus is located in Shanghai National University Science Park, close to the New Hongqiao Economic Development Area. The strategic location enjoys unique advantage of municipal construction of Changning District, in which emphasis are put on the development of fashion and creative industry. IFA has succeeded in establishing a high fashion innovation platform and seven featured laboratories with a set of systematic and complete facilities to meet the exact needs of the modern industry and facilitating teaching in areas from creation, design, making, display to marketing. Among the laboratories, the Haute Couture Fashion Design Lab has training functions of haute couture design, haute couture pattern making and fashion and accessory design & match necessary for the “object” of fashion show performance and planning; the Fashion Show Planning Lab has training functions of information & data, make-up, photograph & camera shooting and multimedia creation necessary for the “technique” used in fashion shows and exhibitions. All these laboratories are constructed in order to guarantee the overall teaching quality of IFA, promote the sharing of interscholastic teaching resources, keep close linkage between relevant specialized courses, and achieve the effects of practical teaching through various projects.
By far, IFA has established strategic cooperation with over 20 large and medium enterprises in fashion industry specializing in fashion design, manufacturing, fabric research and development, art culture, multimedia, etc., and has provided plenty of knowledge service and innovation for fashion and art industry. IFA boasts five major professional studios, which integrates superior Chinese and French teaching resources and research ability, and provides services in different areas of fashion to meet the market needs, including art design, haute couture design and customization, accessory design, pattern design, fabric R&D, brand visual image design, fashion show planning, display and exhibition, prop design, package design, multimedia design and production, etc.
