Research Fields

Based on College of Art & Design, Shanghai University of Engineering, Shanghai-style Paintings Institute focuses on the research of the traditions, heritage and growth of Shanghai-style paintings including oil paintings, watercolors, paintings, posters, and others.

Shanghai is a melting pot of Wu-Yue cultures mingled with the best parts of Chinese Cultures of different regions, plus the intensive influence of Western Cultures. Thus Shanghai Culture has the characteristics of openness, creativity, pioneering and strong business sense. As a university located in Shanghai, we have the geological advantages and responsibilities in this field.

The Institute will organize experts and scholars from inside and outside the university to explore and research in depth, both theoretically and from skills perspectives, on the inheritance, innovation and development of Shanghai-style paintings.
