The Program of Shanghai University of Engineering Science and Otago Polytechnic Art Students Sister Cities was founded in 2012. Teachers and students from IFA Fashion School and School of Fashion Design of our university participated in this program. Sino-New Zealand Sister Cities Program aims to rely on the friendly exchanges between the cities of China and New Zealand, guide and encourage the sister cities to strengthen exchanges and expand cooperation in the fields of education, culture, science and technology, and promote academic exchanges between the universities.
The joint theme design program is made up of two phases. In the first phase, the students gathered some information, exchanged the ideas, and designed the drafts in China. In the second phase, our students went to New Zealand to design their final drafts, produce their works and exhibit them. And they participated in the final ID International New Designer Competition and took part in various fashion events and fashion shows.
Through the cooperation of Shanghai University of Engineering Science, Otago Polytechnic, and ID Fashion Week Committee, teachers and students from the two universities had a better opportunity to learn from each other, and the cooperation and interaction between the two cities were deeper.
