Research Fields

About 60% of small drug molecules currently on the market target membrane-localized proteins. These molecules can also directly or indirectly interact with the surrounding lipid membrane, which may lead to changes in a drugs function, properties, and availability. Our laboratory designs drug analysis platform combining a wide variety of artificial cell membranes with fluorescent analytical techniques and microfluidic technologies to probe interactions of drug and cell membrane and/or membrane proteins. This platform offers a facile and rapid method for the detection of interactions between drug molecules and lipid bilayers.
