Qi Liyan, female, was born in March, 1966. She is now Associate Professor, focusing her research work in English Language and Literature, Second Language Acquisition and Inter-cultural Communication. She graduated from English Language Department, XiAn Foreign Languages University and did her post-graduate training course in South China University of Technology. She is a senior college teacher with a working experience of over 25 years. She has a mastery of the English language and could perfectly perform Simultaneous Interpreting. Ms Qi has developed her own unique and effective way of teaching English. Her classes are always popular and her passionate teaching craft is very well-received among students as she emphasizes on strategies and methods to the acquisition of the English language. Moreover, students would usually find it easier to pass CET 4 and CET 6 after taking her classes. One of the reasons why she was respected and trusted by so many may be that she has a profound understanding of the textbooks and creates a lively classroom atmosphere for most students. Her original perspective and interpretation of English Exam for Master Degrees benefits many post-graduate students of hers. Her clear and precise and informative lecturing style has not only attracted but also inspired many. Her star course, Rethinking America, offers a detailed and vivid introduction on almost every aspect of American life, which promotes an international vision and prepares students for their further study overseas.
Ms Qi has published 13 academic papers as first author, including one paper adopted by ISTP/CPCI, four by Chinese Core Journals collected by Beking University Library, seven by influential university journals and one by other journals). Her field of study is relatively focused and she continues her work with great effort. She participated in compiling five published textbooks and undertook one teaching project on college level. She was awarded “Outstanding Educator” consecutively as a consequence of her excellent teaching as well as her reputation among students.
