Yao Xiuping, male, born in February 1962 in Yuzhou, Henan Province, Han nationality, doctor of Engineering, professor, also winner of Baosteel Award for Excellent Teachers, expert with Special Allowance from the State Council, is a Standing Committee member of Shanghai Municipal Committee of China Democratic League.
He served successively as associate professor of Xi’an Jiaotong University(XJTU) and vice director of turbomachinery research institute of XJTU, director of Power Engineering Department, Shanghai University of Electric Powerand vice president of SUEP.He has participated in or presided over the completion of more than 30 projects, including the National Key Scientific and Technological Research Project, National 863 Program Project, National Natural Science Foundation Project, Shanghai Science and Technology Commission Project, Shanghai “Dawn Plan” Project and other projects entrusted by enterprises and institutions.And he has published over 60 papers and achieved more than 10 scientific research achievements, meantime being awarded 8 prizes for scientific and technological progress at or above the provincial and ministerial levels.Two invention patents and eight utility model patents were obtained by him.In addition, he published one provincial and ministerial key textbook, one national planning textbook, and won the second prize of Shanghai Excellent Textbooks.From August 2015, he became vice president of Shanghai University of Engineering Science.
