The Party Secretary of SUES Teng Jianyong and the president Ding Xiaodong are concerned whether the students can apply what they have learned to practice and adapt themselves to the working condition. The two leaders paid a visit to them to figure out what they are thinking about and expressed their thankfulness to the partnership enterprises for their support.
On July 28, the Party Secretary Teng Jianyong paid a visit to the Industry-Education-Research base of the College of Management Engineering--- Shanghai Wusongkou International Cruise Port and Coastline International Travel Service (Shanghai) Co., Ltd.. The Secretary Teng Jiangyong was given a warm welcome by the chairman of the Board of Directors Chen Xiqi and the general manager Lu Guangyuan of the cruise port and the general manager Wang Tianhong of the travel company. During the visit, the Secretary Teng Jianyong was accompanied by the director of the Party Office Wang Chen, the director of the Student Affairs Office Xu Yang, the Dean of the College of Management Engineering Wu Zhong, the deputy director of the Student Affairs Office Zhou Huiyan, the vice Party Secretary of the College of Management Engineering Fan Junhui and two teachers from the Department of Business Management.
Teng Jianyong extended his regards to the students at their posts there and talked with them about their work and life. This summer, 20 students from the College of Management Engineering became the interns on the cruise ship after the training. They undertook different posts like Check in, Baggage Check in, Security Check, Sanitary Check, Customs, Escalators, Border and Lounge Bridge, etc. Four graduates of 2014 found jobs in the ship company, the Dock Company and travel agency with the help of their excellent performance in their internships. The two partnership companies thought highly of the students’ performance and the communication ability with the foreign cruise crew. The two companies also agreed to the notion of “One Academic Year, Three Semesters, Five Sessions” and expressed the hope of deepening the cooperation with our university and they are willing to offer more internships and posts to our undergraduates and graduates.
The Party Secretary Teng Jianyong expressed his gratitude to the two partnership companies and hoped the students to value every opportunity to improve themselves and the team work spirit and self-management. The students were also encouraged to attend occupation exams and try to get the work permit when obtain the diploma.
On July 25, the president Ding Xiaodong paid a visit to the Industry-Education-Research base of the College of Management Engineering --- Shanghai Tongchao Logistic Ltd. At the seminar, the general manager Lu Yingchao dwelt on the training of the management trainees and the ongoing of the 18 interns at different positions. The president Ding Xiaodong acknowledged the training and talked with the students from the majors of Logistic Management, Business Management and Human Resources Management. The president expressed his gratitude to the company for their support to the cooperative education mode--“Mixture of practice and learning”. He also explained the meaning of the current “shorter semester”. The president wished the students would cherish this industry-learning opportunity and would oftentimes think while working here and would learn and grow in the enterprise environment and achieve a smooth transition from university to work. During the visit, the president Ding Xiaodong was accompanied by the director of the president’s Office Ye Feng, the director of the Student Affairs Office Xu Yang, the Dean of the College of Management Engineering Wu Zhong, the Party Secretary of the College of Aviation He Fajiang, the deputy director of the Student Affairs Office Zhou Huiyan, the vice Party Secretary of the College of Management Engineering Fan Junhui.
At the same day, the president also paid a visit to the general manager of Shanghai Baoxiao Information Technology Ltd. Yang Kaiwei who is the graduate of this year from the College of Aviation and those students who are working and doing the internship there. The president talked with the students and learned how this company was started and how it was run and its developing plan. The president praised Yang’s spirit of creativeness and the support of the cooperative education. He offered some suggestions to the company, like taking full use of their advantages, protecting intelligence property, improve the competitiveness and follow the three-step strategy (campus-industrial park-community). Shanghai Baoxiao Information Technology was started by Yang Qianwei in November 2013, which focuses on the service of both fore end and rear end of express delivery. He also registered the brand “Xiao You Bao” and he has successfully opened a store in Shanghai Institute of Technology. He also started a newspaper “Bay Daily” and opened a SUES Micro-Book store on the platform of WECHAT on which textbooks can be recycled. The company has already made the profit of RMB100, 000 within only 9 months.
These series of visits promoted the communication between our university and enterprises and explored the new models of cooperative education. Better platforms will be built to provide better service to the students.
