On the afternoon of March 24, President Xia Jianguo, Deputy Party Secretaries Xia Siyun, Pei Xiaoqian, Vice Presidents Sun Peilei, Cheng Weiming, Shi Jianyong, together with persons-in-charge of relevant departments and schools, went to Songjiang District for exchange in order to set up a new situation for deep cooperation and in-depth integration. Deputy Party Secretary and District Chief Qin Jian, Member of the Standing Committee and Deputy District Chief Zhang Peirong, Deputy District Chief Long Wanli, Deputy District Chief Su Ping and persons-in-charge of relevant departments gave President Xia and his party a warm reception and attended the exchange talks.
Leaders of Songjiang District point out that main campus of SUES is located in Songjiang University Town; most of SUES’ majors are related to engineering and the students are trained to become application-oriented talents; in addition, SUES focuses on applied research and has strong technology transfer capabilities, so there must be multiple links between the economic growth and social development of Songjiang District and SUES’s applied research; furthermore, the development of high-tech industry in Songjiang District is also inseparable from the support of the college intellectual resources and human resources. Therefore, based on the existing project cooperation, it is quite necessary for the District and SUES to establish an overall and closer strategic partnership at a higher level by executing a new round of strategic cooperation agreements or otherwise; by implementing such initiatives as formulation of National University Science Park and 13th Five-Year Plan, training cooperation, establishment and expansion of the university-industry alliance, the District and SUES can promote the District-University integration in an all-round manner.
President Xia Jianguo indicates that the partnership between Song Songjiang District and SUES should be succeeded, innovated and enhanced on the background of building Shanghai into a “Research and Innovation Center with Global Influence” and the “Four Comprehensive Objectives”; both sides should make joint efforts to build an upgraded version of district-university partnership and establish an all-round and solid district-university partnership through the overall strategic cooperation agreements; the two sides should realize the actual linkage among the industrial park, the campus and the district, share resources, complement each other’s advantages, benefit from each other and achieve win-win from interactions of the university and the district; by carrying out the cooperative projects and utilizing the exchange platform, the District and SUES may conduct specific and profound cooperation in the aspects of technical support, HR interaction & sharing, education and training cooperation, fashion and creative industries, formulation of 13th Five-year Plan, tourism economy, urban rail transportation, social security, etc.
