On the afternoon of April 2, President Xia Jianguo, Deputy Party Secretaries Xia Siyuan and Pei Xiaoqian, Vice Presidents Sun Pei Lei, Cheng Weiming and Shi Jianyong and persons in charge of the related functional departments came to Baoshan District for exchanges and docking. Party Secretary of Baoshan District Wang Hong, Deputy Party Secretary and Mayor Fang Shizhong, Deputy Party Secretary Yuan Ying, Member of District Standing Committee and Vice Mayor Zhou Dexun, Member of District Standing Committee and Head of Organization Department Wu Yanfeng, Deputy Mayors Tao Xiafang and Qin Wenbo and leaders from the Government Office, Development and Reform Commission, Education Bureau, Economy Committee, Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, Binjiang Development and Construction Management Committee gave President Xia and his party a warm reception and attended the symposium.
Mayor Fang Shizhong introduced the latest developments of Baoshan District in his welcome speech. As he pointed out, Baoshan maintained a stable trend of steady economic growth since Baoshan District government commanded the new normal economic situation, spared no efforts to maintain steady growth, seized new land management policy, unswervingly promoted industrial restructuring, commanded the new normal grassroots governance, persisted in consolidating grassroots governance infrastructure, grasped the new requirements of administration by law and unswervingly pushed forward reform and innovation. He also indicated that SUES have provided great supports to Baoshan District for development of the cruise industry, the grassroots governance and formulation of 13th five-year plan; therefore, he sincerely hopes that SUES would continue to do a good job for the innovation and social governance, strengthen the tracking and assessment of grassroots research projects and expand innovation. Moreover, he expects that SUES would do more research work on how Baoshan District can play a more important role in building Shanghai into a global scientific and innovative center.
Vice President Shi Jianyong briefly introduced the main progress and achievements had made since commencement of University-District strategic cooperation in 2012. He remarked that both sides had closely cooperated with each other in holding the cruise tourism festival and China cruise economy forum, compilation of a green cruise paper, teachers and students’ professional practices, young teachers’ occupational practices, business training, participation into Baoshan vocational education Group; and such cooperation brought forth good results. Vice President Shi Jianyong extended thanks to Baoshan District for providing practice and service platforms and learning opportunities, and hopes that both sides could deepen cooperation with great support of mutual leaders and SUES could involve further into Baoshan’s social and economic development, service Baoshan and integrate into Baoshan’s economy.
President Xia Jianguo also extended gratitude to Baoshan District for its great support to SUES and indicated that SUES would inherit, hand down and give a good play of the good university-district cooperation tradition and strive to create a model of university-district cooperation. He expects that both sides would consolidate and deepen the existing all-round university-district strategic cooperation relationships, build an upgraded version of campus cooperation, upgrade mutual cooperation and refine cooperative contents and prepare 2015 university-district cooperation action plan. Thus it is anticipated that both sides would build an all-round cooperation system and mechanism and realize the large-scale university-district collaboration and integration by building mutual platforms and implementing the projects.
Secretary Wang Hong addressed that in line with the principle of reliance on Shanghai modern industry and serving the local economy, SUES had always built the university-running model on the platform of university-industry strategic alliances and by connecting disciplinary and specialty chains with industry chains. SUES is saliently characterized by its university-industry collaboration. So in the new round of reform and innovation and in building Shanghai into a global scientific and innovation center, universities and the District are bound to build a good platform and find more cooperative projects. It is hoped that SUES and the District continue to strengthen the research on the cruise industry and community governance system, cooperate in modifying and refining the 13th five-year plan and open a new chapter of university-district collaboration on the background of new era.
Prior to the symposium, President Xia Jianguo and his party, accompanied by Secretary Wang Hong and other leaders, visited Shanghai Museum of Glass, Wusong Industrial Zone Exhibition Hall, Paotaiwan Wetland Forest Park, Yangtze River Estuary Science and Technology Museum, Wusong International Cruise Port, and thus learned about the latest achievements of Baoshan’s economic restructuring.
