Recently, Shanghai Municipal Education Commission announced the list of Demonstration Undergraduate Courses in Shanghai’s Universities in the academic year 2023. Mechanical Design by Jin Xiaoyi, a teacher of School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering, and Air-Ground Communication (All English) by Li Peiqi, a teacher of School of Air Transportation (School of Flying) were listed. In this round of selection, 31 courses from 23 universities were selected, and Li Peiqi’s Air-Ground Communication (All English) was the only all-English course among them.
The leading teachers of the course of Mechanical Design conducted research and practice of course teaching innovation, aiming at three key problems: How to strengthen the educational function of the course? How to further strengthen the combination of theory and practice? and How to realize the deep integration of modern information technology and curriculum teaching reform? They formed the innovative characteristics of “new multi-dimensional curriculum education mode”, “new educational environment of exploratory thinking and personalized development”, and “new offline teaching methods of online and offline integration”.
The lecturer of Air-Ground Communication (All English) adopts a four-stage teaching activity based on peer learning mode, allowing students to highly participate in the classroom, complement each other’s strengths in cooperation, and improve together; By utilizing virtual simulation technology, create flight scenarios and diverse learning scenarios, they integrate language learning with flight operations, and achieve the unity of language use and professional practical operations.
Both courses applying this time have been selected as Demonstration Undergraduate Courses in Shanghai’s Universities, which is a new breakthrough in the University’s undergraduate education and teaching. In the future, SUES will organize experience sharing activities for demonstration courses, effectively guiding and motivating all teachers to actively study undergraduate teaching through mutual learning, and continuously improving the quality of talent cultivation.
