SUES Intelligent Vehicle Team won the national silver medal at the 2025 China Undergraduate Engineering Practice and Innovation Ability Competition – Intelligent Connected Vehicle Design Contest, with team members Luo Jiayi and Yu Ziye guided by faculty members Yue Min, Ma Xipei, and Huang Xiaoci.

The China Undergraduate Engineering Practice and Innovation Ability Competition is considered the largest and most prestigious event of its kind in China, focusing on engineering innovation and practice. This year’s contest, themed “Integrating Disciplines for Excellence in Engineering Innovation, Upholding Virtue and Diligence to Build a Strong Manufacturing Nation,” emphasized interdisciplinary collaboration and creative problem-solving, bringing together knowledge and technologies from fields such as mechanical design and manufacturing, new energy, and artificial intelligence. The Intelligent Connected Vehicle Design Contest highlighted cutting-edge industry developments, with teams competing in areas such as autonomous driving algorithms and vehicle-road coordination systems.

The SUES team leveraged the industry-grade intelligent connected vehicle virtual simulation platform provided by the National Innovation Center of New Energy Vehicles to focus on autonomous driving algorithms and vehicle-road coordination technologies. They combined expertise in computer science, communications, and automotive engineering to develop a comprehensive “algorithm + hardware + scenario” approach. During the contest, the team independently designed decision-making and control algorithms for autonomous driving systems, optimized performance, and fine-tuned hardware, ultimately achieving both ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) and full autonomous driving capabilities.

Since registering for the competition in July 2024, the team has demonstrated unwavering determination, earning one national silver medal, two Shanghai Grand Prizes, and two Shanghai First Prizes.
