The national finals of the physical object track of the 13th Hamamatsu Cup National University Students’ Opti-Sci-Tech Competition were held at Zhejiang University recently. Two teams from SUES won a National First Prize and a National Second Prize, respectively.

Team Spearhead developed a measurement device capable of high-precision measurement of micro-hole depth-to-diameter ratios with diameters less than 0.3mm and depth-to-diameter ratios greater than 3. The device performed excellently in key scoring elements, ultimately winning the First Prize. This is also the only First Prize awarded to a university in Shanghai for the contest of Non-destructive Measurement of Small Hole Depth-to-Diameter Ratio in this year’s competition.

In the Smart Cars’ Laser Confrontation competition, SUES’ Team Glass Animal designed an intelligent vehicle with outstanding performance. Within the confined arena, the vehicle could not only quickly identify and track the opponent’s car for targeted strikes but also deftly avoid being irradiated by the opponent’s laser and touching minefields. It demonstrated strong capabilities in the physical confrontation, successfully securing a National Second Prize.

It is reported that the physical object track of this competition attracted participation from 2,684 teams across 308 universities nationwide. The national finals awarded 70 National First Prizes, 98 National Second Prizes, and 156 National Third Prizes. SUES’ achievements fully demonstrate the integrated application and innovative capabilities in engineering, design, and management disciplines of opti-sci-tech talents cultivation.
