Delegation from Federation University Australia, Led by Associate Deputy Vice-Chancellor Syed Islam, Visits SUES

On October 17, a delegation from Federation University Australia, led by Associate Deputy Vice-Chancellor Syed Islam, visited SUES. They were received by Vice President Xia Chunming, Wang Qin, Director of the International Office, and Xiao Qian, Deputy Dean of School of Higher Vocational Education.

 

President Xia Chunming extended a warm welcome to Syed Islam and his delegation and provided an overview of SUES. He pointed out that this year, SUES has set the strategic goal of building a “world-class application-innovation-university”, continuously advancing the integration of industry and education and collaborative talent development, and constantly enhancing the level of talent cultivation and technological innovation. He noted that Federation University Australia has prominent strengths in engineering technology, sustainable development, and vocational education, and that the two universities share a high degree of alignment in their philosophy of cultivating application-oriented talents and serving social development. He expressed hope that both sides would deepen exchanges in scientific research innovation, talent cultivation, and industry-university-research collaboration to jointly create new prospects for cooperation.

 


Syed Islam expressed sincere gratitude for the warm reception and gave a brief introduction of Federation University Australia. He stated that Federation University is a comprehensive university with a long history in Australia, possessing strong capabilities in engineering technology, business management, and vocational education, with a focus on practical orientation and industry collaboration. He noted that the two universities have strong complementarity in educational philosophy, discipline structure, and development direction, and substantive cooperation could be carried out in the future in areas such as joint scientific research, faculty and student exchanges, dual degree programs, faculty training, and vocational education collaboration, to jointly promote educational internationalization and high-quality development.

 

During the meeting, both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on topics including Sino-foreign cooperative education, vocational undergraduate education, non-degree training, customized programs, exchange students, and dual degree programs, reaching preliminary consensus on specific areas of cooperation.

 

This visit enhanced mutual understanding and trust between the two universities, laying a solid foundation for future cooperation in scientific research, education, and industry-university-research integration. Both sides look forward to working together, fully leveraging their respective strengths, and jointly elevating Sino-Australian higher education cooperation to a new level.
