On the afternoon of January 7, the award ceremony of the 2023 Pocari Sweat Shanghai University Basketball League and Shanghai Primary and Secondary School Student Basketball League was held at the gymnasium of Songjiang Campus of SUES. Many leaders and directors from universities and sports realm were invited to attend the ceremony, such as Xue Mingyang, President of Shanghai University Sports Association and Honorary President of Shanghai Middle School Sports Association, Yu Tao, President of SUES, Zhu Xiaoqing, Vice President of SUES, Xia Chunming, Vice President of SUES, Chen Hua, Director of the Sports and Health Art Division of Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, Shi Duo, Deputy Director of the Department of Sports, Health and Art of Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, Chen Xiaohua, Director of Songjiang District Education Bureau, and other leaders and guests of relevant units such as the Municipal Education Commission, the Municipal Sports Association, SUES, the Education Bureaus of various districts, and the sports departments of colleges and universities. Altogether 24 champion and runner-up teams gathered together and harvested their highlight moments on the podium.
The competition was hosted by the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, organized by the Shanghai University Sports Association and the Shanghai Middle School Sports Association, and co-organized by the School of Continuing Education of SUES. Since the start of the competition, a series of passionate competitions have been staged in 7 competition areas, including Changning Campus of Shanghai University of Engineering Science and Baoshan Campus of Shanghai University. The teams of each school made a collective appearance, fought for the honor of the school, and dedicated a wonderful basketball feast. Among them, there are 47 participating schools, 94 participating teams, more than 1,400 participating athletes, and 188 competitions in the university group competition. There were 131 participating schools, more than 1,800 athletes, and 373 competitions in the primary and secondary school groups. The live broadcast of the event photos has been viewed by more than 3 million people, and the live video views of some games have reached 300,000 people, attracting wide attention from all walks of life.
As an official brand event with wide influence created by the Shanghai education system, the Shanghai Campus Basketball Tournament is not only a sports activity, but also an educational method, which is not only related to the physical health of students, but also involves their psychological growth and social adaptability, and its charm and value have long surpassed the game itself. The 2023 Campus Basketball League is not only a concrete practice of implementing the concept of integration of sports and education, but also a active response to the Shanghai Action Plan for Promoting the High-quality Development of Physical Education in Primary and Secondary Schools and further improving the Physical Health of students issued by Shanghai Municipal Education Commission in September 2023 for campus sports.
