As the Year of the Dragon approaches, SUES union held the 2024 Calligraphy and Culture Festival at the Cultural Center in the administrative building on the afternoon of January 16th, in order to inherit traditional Chinese culture and further increase the enthusiasm of the faculty and staff and demonstrate vitality and responsibility. Secretary of SUES Party Committee, Li Jiang, attended the event, along with young calligraphers from Songjiang District, inheritors of intangible cultural heritage, and the university’s faculty and students who are interested in calligraphy.
Secretary Li Jiang and Xie Guimin, the chairman of Songjiang District Association of Young Calligraphers, jointly unveiled the Calligraphy and Culture Festival.
Secretary Li Jiang expressed New Year greetings to the teachers and wishes for the growth and success of the students.
At the event, calligraphers freely expressed themselves, creating pairs of auspicious Spring Festival couplets and lively “Fu” characters. The event space boasted a faint ink fragrance and a warm New Year atmosphere.
Carefully crafted paper-cut artworks were created in the event, as it featured a paper-cutting experience, where faculty and staff, guided by paper-cutting inheritors, tried to create their own favorite works, personally experiencing the charm of traditional culture.
Spring blessings were written on couplets, and wishes were expressed through paper-cut window decorations. The on-site calligraphy and paper-cut works created a festive and harmonious atmosphere, showcasing the unique charm of outstanding traditional Chinese culture. The guests conveyed their sincerest New Year wishes to the faculty and staff of the university. The works they created with faculty members and students carry the confidence in the high-quality development of SUES and our common longing for vigor, vitality and hope in the coming Year of the Dragon.
