Focusing on the specialization of “silicon carbide ceramic membrane technology” and the specialty of “pharmaceutical-engineering-medical intersection”, School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering closely combines the new trend of industry development and the new needs of industrial development, deeply focuses on the advantages of disciplines and specialties, empowers the high-quality and sustainable development of the School, and provides “engineering solutions” for the economic and social development of China and Shanghai.


In terms of specialization, the School has set up an advanced technology research and development team for silicon carbide ceramic membrane since 2019 around Silicon Carbide Ceramic Membrane Technology, and has created an engineering business card integrating “basic research, technology research and development, and engineering application” of silicon carbide ceramic membrane. In recent years, it has won a second prize of Science and Technology Award of China Film Industry Association, a second prize of Science and Technology Progress Award of China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, a key laboratory of silicon carbide ceramic membrane of China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, and a national standard of silicon carbide ceramic membrane technology. At the same time, substantial breakthroughs have been made in the basic research on the creation of two-dimensional single-layer silicon carbide. Subsequently, the School will continue to focus on the Silicon Carbide Ceramic Membrane Technology, introduce and educate at the same time, strengthen the cultivation of team leaders and young backbone talents, continuously strengthen the construction of R&D team, focus on the key core technology research of silicon carbide ceramic film and the creation of two-dimensional single-layer silicon carbide, and strive to make greater breakthroughs in top papers, talent plan projects, major horizontal projects, transformation of scientific and technological achievements, provincial and ministerial science and technology awards and key laboratories.

 


In terms of specialty, the School has focused on the strategic layout of the national and Shanghai biomedical industry, relies on the Institute of Pharmaceutical Frontier Technology to carry out basic innovation and key technology research in the field of Pharmaceutical-Engineering-Medical Intersection. As a result, the School has formed specialty in the “pharmaceutical-Industrial intersection” high-end pharmaceutical preparations and intelligent equipment, “medical-pharmaceutical intersection” high-efficiency drug targets and intelligent screening, and “medical-industrial intersection” biomedical materials and intelligent manufacturing. In recent years, 15 longitudinal scientific research projects have been approved, including 12 at the national level, with a cumulative vertical funding of 19.32 million yuan. The School has signed commercial research programs with the fund of 10 million yuan, including 4 major commercial programs of more than one million yuan. Furthermore, the following two research platforms have been approved as two provincial and ministerial-level platforms: Shanghai Pharmaceutical Preparation Intelligent Equipment Engineering Technology Research Center and Shanghai Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Non-coding RNA Druggability Frontier Scientific Research Base (Cultivation). In the near future, the School will rely on the Institute of Pharmaceutical Frontier Technology to continue to focus on the key scientific problems and core technology bottlenecks in the field of biomedicine, drive basic innovation through the “pharmaceutical-engineering-medical intersection” and focus on breaking through a number of key core technologies of intelligent manufacturing.
