Aiming at the forefront of international engineering technology, taking the initiative to meet the national strategic needs, and closely focusing on the three leading industries in Shanghai, under the guidance of the School’s three strategies, School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering of SUES has always given full play to the advantages of disciplines and majors, and has focused on the 3S of “digital networking - digital intelligence - digital use” to serve the national development strategy of the Yangtze River Delta regional integration and local economic and social development, and promote the digital transformation of high-end manufacturing industry. The 3S of the School mainly consist of the “digital networking: intelligent sensing and ubiquitous interconnection”, establishing a domestic digital base; the “digital intelligence: data intelligence and advanced computing”, developing international leading data intelligence algorithms; and the “digital use: industrial decision-making and industrial use”, forming digital characteristics of high-end manufacturing industry such as aviation, automobile, medicine and so on.
In terms of specialization, centering on the “digital networking: intelligent sensing and ubiquitous interconnection”, the School has taken the initiative to align with the academician team with the national-level talent as the guidance, set up an efficient coding communication research team and a federal learning and privacy security research team, participated in the AVS national standard and industrial application, and established the first 5G university campus in China. It has won one first prize and one second prize of the Shanghai Technical Invention Award, one third prize of Shanghai Science and Technology Award, and Shanghai Digital Security Professional Technology Service Platform and Shanghai Key Laboratory. It has actively fed back its scientific research advantages to teaching, and served smart education and universities in central and western China with the aid of the independently developed “Iclass” application. The above-mentioned achievements can provide important guarantee for the digital transformation and digital security of enterprises. And the School will further strengthen the underlying basic technology breakthrough, develop the underlying innovative technology with independent intellectual property rights, and promote the layout of the underlying basic disciplines such as integrated circuits, so as to create a domestic digital base with the specialization of SUES.
In terms of strength, centering on “digital intelligence: data intelligence and advanced computing”, the School has actively integrated into the academician team, set up a national talent-led machine vision research team, and developed the first indoor UAV positioning and navigation technology based on UWB and visual fusion, the aircraft surface point cloud feature extraction and fusion technology in the weak texture environment, and the aircraft surface anomaly detection technology based on weak supervised contrast learning. The aircraft detection robot the team developed has improved the operation efficiency and safety of domestic civil aircraft, and the relevant technology is in the international leading level after identification and evaluation. It has been granted the key projects of Civil Aviation Joint Fund of the State Fund Committee and other various horizontal and vertical funds of more than 20 million yuan. Its related technologies have won the second prize of Shanghai Natural Science, the second prize of Shanghai Science and Technology Progress, the second prize of Science and Technology Progress of China Image and Graphics Society, and the approval of Shanghai Data Intelligent Technology and Application Collaborative Innovation Center. The School will further strengthen the construction of discipline echelon, introduce and cultivate the outstanding young backbone of the team, and form the cross-disciplinary integration with other disciplines of SUES, so as to lay a foundation for the breakthrough of building national and Shanghai key laboratories.
In terms of specialty, centering on “Data Application: Industrial Decision and Industrial Application”, the School has closely coordinated with the academician team, and set up a national talent-led industrial decision intelligent scientific research team. Facing the whole industrial chain links such as supply chain, R&D design, production, management, and customer service, the team has built the largest knowledge base of the whole industrial chain in China, realizing the automatic extraction of industrial knowledge and the application of inference decision, and integrating with the large industrial model to help improve the quality and efficiency of manufacturing. It has been approved as Shanghai Manufacturing Industry Digital Transformation Professional Technology Service Platform, Key Laboratory of Civil Aircraft Big Data Analysis of Industrial Internet Industry Alliance, and granted the Science and Technology Innovation 2030 Major Project of New Generation Artificial Intelligence of Ministry of Science and Technology and other various horizontal and vertical projects of more than 30 million yuan. It has participated in the construction of many international and domestic standards, led eight group standards, and won two second prizes and one third prize of provincial and ministerial scientific and technological progress. Its achievements have been applied in the fields of aviation, automobile, railway, automobile and pharmaceutical, and created favorable economic and social benefits. The School will further condense the new research paradigm of artificial intelligence and large model era, strengthen the construction of independent computing power, so as to support the “grand transportation” development programs of aviation, automobile, rail and cruise of SUES.
From now on, centering around the 3S, the School will continue to deepen the construction of disciplines and majors, plan a key modern industry institute featuring “5G+ artificial intelligence”, give full play to the efficiency of artificial intelligence industry research institute, digital transformation center, provincial and ministerial platform and double innovation center, in order to make further breakthrough in the construction of major platforms and projects of the School, and promote its high-quality and sustainable development.
